I was able to remove to my battery, but am afraid to turn on my macbook with the battery out. Want to know is it possible to use it without the battery, reason being I want to extend my macbook's battery life, cos I heard there is a 300 cycle battery life.
Pls advise, many thanks
Edited: Have removed the battery and turned it on, working perfectly without a hitch, maybe this way it'll keep my battery life longer as I am not constantly charging and discharging it.

Leaving the battery out reduces the performance of your MB. I suggest you leave it in.

Apple also recommends leaving it in for prolonging your battery life along with the reduced performance with it out of the machine.

Check Apple's recommendations and the links there under Applecare.

Could you elaborate further as to how having the battery out does affect performance even if the MB is plugged in?

To the OP-I think batteries are a lot cheaper than buying a MB. Why go undergo this hassle?

Rob, that's a spammer above you. When you find those spam posts, use the exclamation mark under their name to report it. The mod's will come along and remove them.

According to Apple, this is a "feature" that reduces system performance to keep it from shutting down if the machine tries to draw more power than the adapter can supply. No one else seems to understand this either, but you can find more info with a little googling if you really want to know. There have been several sites test it out, and the CPU apparently is throttled back when the battery is removed.

They must have someone on the design team that lived in an area of brown outs. I lived in an area like this for awhile. The electric company had issues with providing consistent current. It had the effect of some electronics turning off as if we had lost power and even caused a power supply failure in one of my TV's along with issues on my A/C unit.
