I have an 8 month old MacBook and every time i put a writable DVD into it it kicks it out 10 seconds later. Is there a reason why? It seems to work with normal DVD's fine, just DVD's that are empty.

This is my first attempt to burn something from IMovie, and im getting somewhat confused.

Sorry i searched the forum and did not see any previous threads.

Try a different brand of media and also try cleaning the drive. You can purchase a cleaning kit most anyplace that sells computer accessories. If that doesn't work, take your machine on in to Apple and have them look at it. Since it's still under warranty, they'll replace the drive if it is defective.

Regards.

If you are burning an iMovie project directly to a DVD, I don't know how you can do that. If that's what you are trying to do, you should use iDVD.

Also, your laptop shouldn't have a problem with this (mine doesn't, and I got it probably a couple of months after yours), but is the writable DVD a DVD+R or a DVD-R?

8 month old MacBook? What model did you buy? If it was an early 2008 white MacBook and the least expensive model, (2.1 GHZ model) then it does not have a SuperDrive. That model could only write to CDs and read DVDs.

That would be the reason it ejects the blank DVDs. :(

Regards.

A CD-RW will only write to CD's, not DVD's. RW = re-writable. There are CD-RW drives and DVD-RW drives.

To know for sure what your machine has in it - click on the Apple on the menu bar - About This Mac - More Info - Disc Burning
