Delete some things you don't need anymore. After making some space you can also use software to see what is taking up your disk space. Baseline (Mac) - Download is one app many more out there
try right-clicking on your Trash icon in the Dock and select Empty Trash
it's easy for some to forget to empty it and then it gets extremely large
then just go through your files and delete anything you don't need/want
press cmd+backspace to send something to the trash, much quicker then dragging
then empty
If you're anything like me, you're a packrat. Find some media or programs you haven't used/viewed in ages and delete them. scathe also has a good point - it does get easy for some to forget to empty the trash (in case you haven't in a while).
