how can i do this in mac?

i just got my mac yesterday and i am still trying to figure everything out. i want to make slides on mac, what application do i need? what i want to do is opening a file, putting in words along with its definition. i am learning french and i think this will help me to improve my vocabulary

Are you talking about a slideshow. If so, you can use Powerpoint (Office), Keynote (iWork) or Impress (OpenOffice).

There is also iFlash if you are looking for something more akin to flash cards. I haven't tried this one out but there is a demo.

You need Office 2008 - Office 2007 is the Windows version.

Yes, you can have both installed but you should really only need one. For your purposes, there is no need to have both.

You can try the trial first before committing. It's worth a shot before you pay for it.

If you get iwork there normally isnt a prob with compatibility with office, as in pages you can export it as a word doc and in keynotes you can export as a powerpiont slide.

True. With my experience though, trying to open 2007 files is always met with some errors/warnings.

Opening/saving 2003 documents, in my limited experience at least, is pretty good though.
