MacbookPro 2.8Ghz Heat Problem

Macbook Pro 2.8Ghz 512mb GPU 9600M GT/9400M 250GB 7200rpm 4GB RAM. Update is up-to-date feb 18 2009

I am a university student who just recently purchased Macbook Pro Unibody.

I noticed that my fans are stuck 2000rpm, therefore, i tried to reset my

SMC by following instructions in Apple. I restarted my computer

and noticed a big change; the fans are acually increasing as my CPU

temperture increased. However, after 1 minute or so, the fans came back to

2000rpm but my CPU temperture is above 80 degrees (c).

(i kept repeating to reset my SMC but same results)

Please HELP!

Right now i am using SMC fan control to decrease my temperature.

What is you CPU load? Where are you using it? on a desk?

my cpu is usually 50%+ (both) when i am rendering movies, and I always put my MBP on a flat surface like a desk. I live in Canada and my room is pretty chilly!

What about when it is idle, what temp is it?
Mine hits 70 C while coding non-HD video. The chips will run at about 100 without problems. If it is only during heavy video coding I wouldn't worry just ramp up the fans before hand.

I use fan control to change the lower and upper limits. So my MBPs fans are set to hit full speed at 70C

My fans are always at 2k (at idle)....don't think that it's a problem w/ the computer.

It's not.

If there was a problem, the computer would enter failsafe mode and shut down before any irreparable damage occured.

Notebooks will get hot.
Sometimes very hot.
The fans will run and sometimes they will run at a high RPM rate.

The only time to worry about a heat issue is if the computer starts to lock up during operation or gets so hot as to leave physical burns on your skin.
