• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I work in the dental industry and am trying to integrate a dental camera into Mac OS X. The camera uses the standard USB Video Class, YUY2.

I am able to get the camera to initialize and power up, but no video.

I am not sure what else to say. If anyone needs more info let me know and I will respond back with as much info as I can.

Attached you will find a PDF of the USB Video Payload....maybe it will help a bit.

Thanks...

You didn't say which version of OS X you are using. See this wikipedia entry regarding when Apple started supporting USB cameras that support the UVC standard.

If that document you linked to is regarding UVC, then I'd think Apple would handle the YUY2 compression format.

Perhaps check out the maccam page.

The obvious question is, have you tried that camera on another system such as a Windows box. Perhaps the camera is broken.
