Long installs on MPB?

I just bought the MPB 7 hours ago, and went to play around with then opened itunes to listen to some music. The software update then popped up and said i should update 8 programs.

Alright no problem! I let the downloads go, then when it was done, I restarted the computer.
Then a screen came up and said it was initializing the system or something.
This stayed like so without ANY progress for 10 minutes. (marked it with my mouse)

Is this normal for mac updates?

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the new Security Update is causing problems for some people. Did you install a Security Update recently?

No idea. I just know I'm dling an update for safari, itunes, quicktime, java, and a few other things
