Disc utility input/ouput error

:Grimmace: I'm using 10.5.6 and cannot duplicate any of my IDVD derived discs. Have tried numerous times. Have checked on several forums and get the impression this is a common problem but simply can't find the solution...anyone any clue before I throw my MACBOOK at the bloke in the local Apple shop.......Thanks
