Frontrow wont play .avi

Hi

Frontrow wont allow me to play .avi files, I can play them through Quicktime no problem but cant add them to iTunes or Frontrow. Does anyone know what my problem is?

Is there anymore information i could that would help people be able to answer? Im new to Macs so know very little about them.
