I recently purchased my first Mac and really know nothing about it. And I know even less about external drives. Processor is 2.1 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory, which is pretty much a foreign language to me. I read some blogs, and it seems that Pioneer is suggested quite often for Macs.

Looking for some feedback/suggestions. Do I have enough memory, what should I be looking for in terms of type, speed for a macbook?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

NewEgg is a better deal for computer parts than OWC. I'd suggest you upgrade your RAM and you can get a DVD burner from there too (you don't need a Pioneer, anything should work on your computer):

4 GB of RAM for $38 w/ free shipping (OWC charges $50)
External DVD burner for $50 (OWC charges $72)

$88 vs. $122. OWC is not a good deal.
