Hi
A week ago I bought an IPhone 3G (Firmware: 02.30.03)
I was really enthusiastic and looking forward to use it...
So I activated it with my iTunes (version 8.0.2). All went fine...so i wanted to sync my pics and music with my iPhone...and it crashed after ~30%
Error -39
In other forums i found that Error -39 is when i want to sync corrupt files...so i tried to sync without uploading any files ... but it still crashs :(

But this is not all :(
When i try to sync my iPod, as soon as i plug in with USB, the whole Mac crashes ... always get the message to reboot my mac...
Same problem with any other USB-HD (even my backup-HD from timemachine)...the only thing i can plugin with usb is a keyboard and a mouse (and the iPhone, as you can read above)

there is a problem in the recent mac kernel while connecting iphone or ipod via usb to macbook.
view th solution here:
URL->Dev-Team Blog
TOPIC->Fixing DFU mode on 10.5.6

you can try a simple way to avoid this by connecting tge iphone/ipod to a usb hub and the hub to the mac.
