I currently own a macbook pro core 2 duo. i was wondering do i need to get anything special to have an N router work on my set up?

if not i would like to get an N router cause my linksys WRT54G doesnt work since i have to use the computer down stairs.

I was looking at the airport extreme but its a little pricey are there other cheap alternatives to that.

i have been searching around and most of the N routers that i have seen are in the $100 range. i would not like to spend that much.

Most N routers will be pretty expensive since it's newer technology. I would suggest checking out the D-Link DIR-655. It's not nearly as expensive as the Airport Extreme but it's very capable.

Edit: Looks like D-Link added Shareport technology via a firmware update. So the DIR-655 is actually a better router than the Airport Extreme with a lower price tag.
