All of a sudden, everything on my screen is HUGE. I mean everything, even the dock. I went to System Prefs, checked on the Displays and my resolution is set to what it's always set at — 800 x 600. Is there a way to restore it to its normal appearance?

Sounds like you have accidentally set screen zooming

You can turn it off in  menu > System preferences > Universal Access

Maybe your "show view options" is messed up. Go to the finder & hit command-J.

You may also have zoomed in accidentally by holding down the Ctrl key while moving two fingers upward on the trackpad. You can reverse this with the opposite gesture (holding the Ctrl key while swiping two fingers downward on the trackpad).

When you did the "command-J" did you check to be sure that the "Icon Size" was not too large...like 128 x 128?

800x600 is a very low resolution for any monitor made in the last ten years. Are you sure that's what you want?
