I'm relearning german.. and since I can't very well climb into a forum of native german speakers so well yet, I gota remaster this language any other way I can. So who ever speaks german, or is taking it in HS or college, or wants to learn, I invite you to speak only german here (or mostly), and help me out so when I go to germany this summer I wont be a fish outa water under a burning sun :D .

FreeTranslation is a nice cheat site, ill try to avoid it as much as possible, as I want to figure it out myself..

but also if I make a mistake (thats not just a type-o) correct me! grammatik

---
hallo! wie gehts es ihnen? :D jk, ich spreche besse...

so wie lang siesprechen deutsch? oder wer sprechst?

----
help me! i struggled through that! :D

Mir geht's ganz gut, und Ihnen? Vor 4 Jahren spreche ich Deutsch. Seitdem ich mein Deutsch zu vergessen beginne. Ich lerne alle deutschen Dinge, die ich lernen kann, wie Kultur, Sprache, das Land, usw. Wenn wir besser Deutsch sprechen können, werde ich gerne mit Ihnen plaudern.

If you meant that you learned German 6 years ago, it's:
Ich habe vor sechs Jahren Deutsch gelernt.

If you meant that you're learning German since 6 years, it's:
Ich lerne Deutsch seit sechs Jahren.

Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache... (German language, difficult language...)

hehe, funny posts those three last ones, when taken in a row:

du hast "you have"

ja, ich auch "yes, me too" (??)

Wo gehst du in Deutschland dieses Sommer?
"Where are you going in Germany this summer" (????)

:spook:

lustig lustig "funny funny" :p

Funnier still if coachz was referring the song "du hast" which meant "you hate"

"du hast!" really means "you have!"
"du hasst!" means "you hate" which actually is the song's name

it's just one little letter difference, but totally changing the word's meaning.

And, Graphite, I know you were referring to Rammstein, I meant that, when taking the sentences out of context, it's kinda funny... :dive:

I love Rammstein also. What is everyone's favorite song(s).

I like Amerika, Moskau, Der Meister, Spieluhr, Engel, Rein Raus, Eifersucht and Klavier.

If you would like to say "I'm interested in...". You'll use the reflexive verb "sich interessieren", plus the preposition "für". It's just a better way to say it. But I couldn't say, if your sentence is correct or not, because there are still things I scratch my head at with this weird language.

Ich interessiere mich für
Du interessierst dich für
Er/Sie/Es interessiert sich für
Ihr interessiert euch für
Wir interessieren uns für
Sie/sie interessieren sich für

The one thing that I don't like about German is they do not use the same prepositions in sentence that we would usually use. They say, they are interested for something, but we say we are interested in something. Weird!
