• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I hooked up my vcr via a SONY DCR-109PC and from there via firewire to my mac, importing the analog signal into iMovie6. The image and audio came through nicely except the picture came in only black and white! The tape was taped in NTSC, the Sony is an NTSC version so I don't know what happened. Would anyone know and can help, please?

This only time I've had B&W issues is with S-Video not being completely plugged in properly.

Try taping to the camera and play that back to see if the camera is getting colour.

Thanks for that, and I will give that a try. I am using the regular red/white/yellow connectors as my vcr does not have an S-Video outlet.
