How to take snapshot (Shift-Apple-3) of a movie frame in DVD player?

I want to take a snapshot of a movie still (DVD) with Shift-Apple-3, and it will not let me.

Is there a way around this?

I am not going to make money off of the image, I just want to use it for fair use, actually as a background.

What can I do? Thanks for any help.
