just wondering how long it took everyone to upgrade to 2.2.1? when i upgraded to 2.2, it took about 20-30 minutes. however, this upgrade has been going one for an hour. just wondering. another question, i know some people's phones have bricked during an upgrade, what are the signs of your phone bricking? and don't say it wont power up LOL, i know the obvious.

iphone 2.2.1

i have just done the update and it was a bit worrying......

it told me it couldn't do the update at first and i would have to restore my iphone, i then got the connect ti itunes symbol, it went to restore and this took 20 minutes, then i had to sync all my data again, it hasnt synced my music which is strange, i will check my settings before blaming the update.

so far it looks ok, i cant tell any improvement yet ( apart from all my apps are in different places, very annoying i will have to move them to where i like them again)

(when will you allow iphone tethering oh Mr Jobs?????)

mine was stuck on the "updating firmware" screen for at least 3 hrs. i called my local apple store, told them the issue, and they told me a possible resolution. here it is:

unplug the iphone, hit and hold the home button and power button at the same time, this will force the iphone into recovery mode. after it reboots, it will prompt you to plug it back into itunes. itunes will prompt you to restore it back to the last sync point. follow the screen prompts from there

so far, it seems to be back to normal. i will update again in a few hours to report how its working

I updated mine and it went flawlessly in about 20 minutes counting time to DL the file. Everything is just like it was before the update as far as i can tell.

Mine was only about 5 minutes. 20+ minutes seems too long.

20 minutes? Mine took about 5 minutes. Maybe it's because I have an iPod Touch and not an iPhone.

Up-date 2.2.1

I up-dated my iPhone 3G last night and it took an age.

I've not been able to connect to the internet since.
All my settings are the same as before.

I've just done a restore and I still can't connect.

Any idea's

please stop using the term "brick" only newbies still think this can happen to a device especially if doing an apple issued update. do some research
