Newbie Needs Help!!!

Hi. My sister just got her ibook today and everything seems fine but for some reason the fn key isn't working. HELP!

*edit: Yeah hahaha sorry. I thought u needed to press the fn key to change volume or brightness setting. I just found out that you don't. Sorry pple.
