Accidently formatted drive with itunes music on... hheeeeelp?

Hi There,

A friend of mine accidentally reformatted his E drive instead of a flash stick, which had his itunes music folder on it...(PC)
he has his Ipod which is up to date,

what must he do in order to get his music from his ipod back to his machine...?

am i correct in saying that if he syncs his ipod, it will match the PC with ipod, not ipod with pc, therefore erasing everything...


help will be much appreciated

Synching will (I think) only add tracks to the ipod
