• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Final Cut Express does not recognise my DVCam

I've got a problem with Final Cut Express 4 that I'm trying to sort out. I've installed it on my computer and I want to capture some DV footage in a FCE project. However, there is a connection problem with my camera and FCE. FCE doesn't recognise the camera. FireWire cable is properly connected and plugged in. I have also checked the Easy Set Up and tried different options, but still no recognition. I've never had this problem with iMovie. I know in the past some editors had similar problems with Final Cut Pro. Do you think you can help me solve it?

Someone will be able to help you better if you would indicate which camera and which mac (with specs).
