major software and disk problems

I tried to install windows using bootcamp and it didnt worked so this morning when I turned my system on it was a black screen with a white blinker at the top. I then rebooted and held option button and the only software I could choose was windows. My mac os x has gone!? I then entered the install dvd and no destinations can be found! To top it off I need to do my coursework! Any help would be great!

you need to select to boot to os x rather than (a failed) windows boot. hold down the option key and select os x.

I have tried this but there is no option to select mac os x only windows??

did you format the wrong partition?

I think I must have. So you no what i could do now?

I'd assume you'd have to blow away the partitions (fdisk) and reinstall.
