I connected my Macbook to my LCD TV using mini DVI - HDMI. When I put on my TV, I see my Macbook desktop background, but nothing else...no icons, no cursor, or anything else. It will not show any programs or videos I open. It is just the desktop background and nothing else. What could the problem be?

Your Mac's Specs
15" MBP '06 2.33 C2D 4GB 10.7; 13" MBA '14 1.8 i7 8GB 10.11; 21" iMac '13 2.9 i5 8GB 10.11; 6S
In the mode you are in, you will need to drag whatever it is you want on the TV from your MB screen to the TV screen. Try moving your cursor off your MB screen to see which side to move things.

If you want it to display the same thing as your MB - open System Preferences - Displays - and put a check in Mirror Displays
