It'll be able to run it in its sleep. It only deals with 2D - a G4 will be fine with it, providing its got enough RAM.

Shouldn't be any slower than CS3 TBH.

I tried the trial on my old Dual G5 2.7 and it ran fine, just didn't like the 'improved' interface.

Even if you are going from CS3 Extended to CS4 Extended I doubt the 3D and Video features will run any slower, perhaps quicker even?

Best advice I can give you is go to adobe.com download a 30-day trial and find out for yourself. :)

I have an older PPC G5 dual 2.5 GHz and just installed PS CS4 and a new
ATI graphics Card (ATY 9600). I can use Photoshop, but not some of the new features that use Open GL. Go to the Adobe Web site and make sure that you have a tested graphics card that supports Open GL.

not so true, although it mostly added "3D stuff" they also changed some color management and the coolest feature is content aware scaling :) also smooth zooming but that's just a perk

but yeah, CS3 will do all your work just fine, there are still designers not even on CS ;)

depending on how much RAM you have, should be Ok to run in G5. but if you do multiple application the same time. then G5 may not be able to handle and will get slower. I don't recommend running in G4.
