Hello, I have question regarding using memory off a mac book pro (2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo) with 2GB to install on iMac 20" (2.0 Intel Core 2 Duo) with 1GB. If I go to "About this Mac" on the MBP I see DDR2 SDRAM and also see DDR2 SDRAM on the iMac. I want to upgrade the memory on both to the max and I believe the iMac takes 2GB and MBP 3GB, if someone can advice I would really appreciate it. Also, if you can recommend a place to get the memory.

Thanks

I'd recommend Crucial.com. If you look up both machines in their memory selector, you can check to see if the specs and/or part numbers match. If they do, you can use the memory in the opposite machine.

I order all my mac and pc components through newegg.com another "reasonable" place to check could be tigerdirect.com

The imac should support up to 4gb. and by the sound of the processor speed of the iMac, my guess would be the 667mhz type ram. 2ea of 2gb sticks would max the imac out. For the book pro, i have no experience, crucial.com would be your best bet.... as stated above.

Your Mac's Specs
Al iMac 20" 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2.16Ghz - sounds like a white iMac.

They take 3Gb max.
