powerbook g4 spits CDRs out

I haven't had problems burning music cds before, but today every time I insert a CDR it spits it back out after a few seconds. Any ideas for a fix? Thanks.

I'm running 10.3.9 if it makes a difference

Probably a failed optical drive. Lots of those failing on PowerBooks and MacBook Pros. My PowerBook G4 had this problem too, about 18 months after I bought it. Luckily I had AppleCare.

If you don't have a warranty, Apple will want some ungodly sum like $400 or $600 to replace it. Personally I'd either buy an external Firewire/USB2 drive or get a replacement internal one and install it myself.
