hi, i just recently purchased a samsung ln32A550 and connected my pbook to it via dvi > hdmi... for some reason the tv only recognizes the source as 1080i... is there a fix for this? tv settings or could it be my old school pbook can't do 1080p (although the specs says it can support 1600x1200 which way over 1080p)... furthermore, could it be the dvi > hdmi cable thats just crap (i got those generic $15 ones)

any help is appreciated, cuz i dont want to buy more cables to find that its actually just my comp...

Is the difference between 1080i and 1080p really matter? They are both displaying the same amount of pixels but they just the way the refresh (maybe that is the wrong verb, that is a direct translation from Japanese so it could be different in English).

1080p matters, trust me on this one, you can definitely see the difference. I had the same issue with my Sony Bravia Z series and Mac Mini. Turns out it would only display 1080p when using a vga cable rather than DVI-HDMI. For now, it looks better than 1080i. Hopefully the illusive new Mini will have HDMI (fingers crossed).
