Way... way too many specs to list.
Try changing to RGB from indexed color under image, mode.

Then don't know, every version of photoshop I've had has been able to create a new image and save it as a jpeg... that's pretty much back to '93.

the color depth for jpeg is 8bit ... try that, it's to the right of the option where you choose RGB when you create a file

you probably have it set to 16bit guessing from the formats you listed ...

PNG is a good example compared to the 8bit GIF, while GIF only has a true/false visibility, PNG gives you a full alfa mask, just a comment

hope it helps

saving files in photoshop

Hi, I am using photoshop CS3 as well. When I create a new file using 8 bit and then go to to 'save as' I am offered 20 options, regardless of whether I am using the custom option or any of the presets, even for video output. If you change the bit rate ie from 8 to 16 then you are only offered a few options. As I understand it 16 bit contains alot more image info and therefore there are only few options that can support it. For most purposes 8 bit should be adequate and therefore offer you alot more options
