I want to connect my 20" iMac to my 46" HDTV. I've done it already with my MacBook Pro. But on my MBP, I only use the external display and have a desktop res of 1920x1080. Can I do the same on the iMac without having to use mirror mode? I do not want the iMac dispaly on at all.

Doesn't appear to be a way unless I missed out on something in the Apple KB.

See the following article.

Regards.

The only solution I have involves setting the TV as the primary display, and then smashing the internal with a rock. ;)

The last solution is rather drastic though.
