move the tiger home folder to external hd

I've been looking for a way to completely move my home folder from the internal mac HD to an external USB HD in OS X Tiger. I only have 19 gigs of space on the internal HD, so it fills up pretty quick.
I've searched for guides on how to do this for Tiger, but found Leopard tutorials that didn't help me much.
I want to know if it's a reasonable option to move the home folder when you're pressed for space, and how to do it if anyone has succeeded in doing so.

I had found this guide, but realized it was for Leopard, not Tiger. There are options you have in Leopard that aren't available in Tiger.
