Ipod 30gig problems

I've had it for a while now, and now it sporadically just shuts off with a loud noise heard through the earphones. The screen has like an afterimage of what i was last listening to/doing, then it just sortof fuzzes/fades out slowly, this is getting to be really annoying, is there any way to fix this?
