Do I need to empty the Internet Cache in Firefox on my NEW iMac?

If so, may I have directions for this....and are there any other things I need to do to keep my browser running faster....it seems slow lately.

THANK YOU.

In Firefox do the following...

Click on Firefox in the Menu Bar > Preferences > Click the Advanced Tab > Under Advanced, click 'Network'.

You can now empty the cache, and change the default value (50MB), to whatever you want.

How do I know when the cache is cleared? There is a blue line around the oval, but not sure if that means it is working.
