help with hand brake

hi iam having a problem with hand brake. iam trying to convert a 720p hd .mkv file into a format that will play on my ps3. but it gets to about 50% and then the program just shuts down by its self. tryed it a few times with no sucess. is there any settings will i need to alter to make it work. or another program i can use to make it work.

The problem is that you're using the wrong program. Handbrake is for ripping DVDs, not converting files.

There are a couple of options for you here. PS3 Video 9 would probably be your best bet.
