Vhs To Dvd

im trying to figure out how to convert my old vhs tapes to dvds whats the best way to do this with a mac, i saw that there is cheap programs out there by roxio but they only seem to have them for vista and xp.... any suggestions..

just wondering how do you connect your vhs player to your mac?

im not sure i saw for microsoft they had a cable that on one end had a usb and the other end had the red yellow white and svideo cable on it.

I started doing the same two days ago, copying my VHS to DVD, but I bought a Sony Recorder RDR-VX535, very, very , but very simple to use. it does everything you want. YOu put the dvd , the VHS tape two clicks and it starts recording.

The only issue is when you want to move it to your mac. Imovie won't identify the DVD because it considers it as a Commercial DVD, so you need follow the steps in link below:

One more thing in that post a lot of people are having problem loading the video to imovie, read my post at the end and everything should be fine.

Well all this is good if you are planning to do the same things I doing by buying the recorder and using Imovie to edit your movies... If that is not what you want stop reading my post....lol

After researching these, this is the one I'll eventually buy. Keep in mind this one is cheaper due to the digital tv transition. All the old tv tuners are going up for sale, but they still work great for capture purposes.

If you have a video camera that is 'pass through' enabled you can use it to get from your vhs player into a firewire port. I did this once with a Canon zr60.
