Trying to save a dual 1ghz QS.

Got a kernel error on startup. Open firmware shows cpu G4@1 STOPPED.:[

Any ideas?

Thanks, and I hope this is considered a hardware and not a sw problem...

Thanks for the link!

I've tried everything multiple times with no luck. I made it through all the startup dialog once, but it only lasted a few seconds. This machine was given to me stripped clean, so I know nothing of its history.

This is the first Mac I've encountered with a fried processor. And I really hate giving up on it.

Thanks

A new battery should be in the mail today. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll pull and re-seat the processors.

It's not a chrome door ( sounds cooler than 'mirrored drive door' ), it's a regular QS with PC133 ram. But I found the processors for sale from the same ebayer that you referred me to. They want over $100 for it, which isn't bad considering, but I can't see spending any money on it.

If I can't get it working, I might try using the case for a hackintosh....

Thanks again!
