Don't mind them really , but for a band that rich you think they could get their sound quality better .....

Not really a fan of bands that have members with alter ego names...

They put on a heck of a show. Saw 'em with Pearl Jam in Hawaii.

I love u2's old stuff. Some of their albums such as War and Joshua tree are very thought provoking. Nowadays I dont think their music serves as much of a purpose... not to say that I wont buy their new album :)

Older stuff = alright, decent.

New stuff / Current day = Huge ego, not as amazing as they think they are.

I like their older stuff. Haven't listened to anything new.

I wonder is U2 likes polls.

They're all right. Some of their lyrics are just crappy though.

That pretty much nails it.

I love this video of The Edge.

Huge ego... can't even do a simple interview without his roadie/guitar tech... mostly because he doesn't seem to know what equipment he has or even how to work some of it.

And I love the, "they all sound different" line... yeah, this is true of guitars. Different body shapes, woods, pickups, bridges...etc. they all bring diffferent tonal qualities to the guitar.... however, when you apply copious amounts of never ending delay and reverb and other effects, you really drown out any of a guitar's unique tone.
They don't really sound all that different, then.

I will echo what has been said already. I liked their older music quite a bit but mostly for the overall sound. Nice sound. Their latest music I don't really care for. The Edge has never been a really great player but he sounded nice at least in the early days.

The EGO part though fits a lot more than just U2 or The Edge. Read some of the early interviews with Eddie Van Halen in Guitar Player. "No one can play like me, no one can Chime like me, other guitarists sound like they all have a broken arm and how well can you play with a broken arm". I am paraphrasing as close as I can remember without finding the issues of GP, but that is pretty EGO to me! :D

Somehow it does not surprise me that The Edge knows little about his equipment DB! :D

Derek, you told me a long time ago but I forgot, why does The Edge call himself that?

DB, I just watched that video. Thanks for the URL. It says it all! I wonder how good his tech can play? He is doing most of the work! :D

They call him the Edge because he's on the edge of being able to play half decently.

Also, my vote went to "Worst Thing I've Ever Heard".

I never liked U2, I don't like them now, and I never will.

Funny one Derek. Thanks!

I once heard someone say The Edge meant his playing was at the Edge of Guitar Playing Technology. I laughed so hard I almost died! :D
