Dimming the screen?

Does anyone know of a way to further dim the macbook?
like at night when i use it before bed it seems bright..even on the lowest setting..

i was wondering if there was a terminal command or like an application that would do it...

When adjusting the volume shift+option+function key up or down makes small incremental changes.

Worth trying this with the brightness. Not in front of my Mac so I can't try it myself.

For those with highly sensitive eyes to brightness, Shades has been indispensible for me.
It installs into System Preferences and provides a menu bar slider.

Another app for fine tuning brightness is Screenshades. They have shut down their previous site and will be opening this one soon. You may be able to still find the old version with a google.
