Hiya,

Quick question for you mac tech guys. How do i remove the web history from the web address window (where you type web addresses into)?

I have cleared the cache, cleared the history, selected private browsing and also rest safari.

Although this clears the history, searches and all the usernames&passwords, it still leaves all the sites i've ever visited on this mac in the web address window.

Even tho all the above is deleted, if i type "www." into the web address bar then press down key, a long list comes up. However, if i click the history tab in the top safari toolbar, there is nothing there??

I dont understand this but if anyone could shed some light that would be great.

Are any of the sites in your bookmarks? If they are not try deleting History.plist file ~/Library/Safari/History.plist

dbnoise is correct. If you have websites saved in your favorites/bookmarks then they will show up in the address bar still.

Just don't bookmark any porn websites and use private browsing and you should be good. :)
