Garage Band 09 update

I bought my MacBook last year and I want to know if there is a way of updating the Garage Band to 09 without buying it, the guy at the store said I will have updates scheduled automatically but I am not sure if it is included.

No, it is not included in the automatic updates. GarageBand is part of the iLife suite, and if you want a newer version I'm afraid you'll need to pay for it.

I know, it's a rip off. I put up another thread like this yesterday and contacted Apple today about this. They said you have to pay the full $80.
