I know that the 17" screen meets the 1080 requirement for full HD, and the 15" only has 900 lines. As far as pixel density goes, do both screens have the same number of pixels per square inch?

The Math: and this is only approximate, not exact, didn't take any actual measurments.

16:9 screen (and yes I know our Mac's are 16:10), just makes it easier.

15" screen is 9" x 12" = 108 square inches
1440 x 900 = 1,296,000 pixels ÷ 108 = 12,000 pixels/SI

17" screen is 10.2" x 13.6" = 138.7 SI
1920 x 1200 = 2,304,000 ÷ 138.7 = 16,611 pixels/SI

The 133 per inch Apple notes in their write up refers to pixels per inch (not per SI) - horizontally. 1920 ÷ 13.6 = 141; yes I know the math is off a little, but this is close enough for government work. :)

I have no idea why I didn't just do the measuring and math myself! Based my measurements of my 15" MacBook Pro and a MacBook, they have 110 pixels per inch. I wonder when the 15" will get a higher-res screen.
