Wiping my Mac manually

I have the Macbook pro, late 2008 edition.

Is it possible for me to wipe my Macbook but keep one small application and saved files in it?

why dont you back up the files and wipe it then put the files back on the system then re-install the app.. you said yourself it was a small app.

Yeah, I have the App backed up on my flashdrive.

So how exactly do I wipe my mac of everything?
