Uninstalling an app

I installed Limewire some time ago, but now when I try to uninstall it (delete it from the Applications folder), a dialog comes up and says that the operation couldn't be completed because files are missing.

How can I correct this?

re-install it, and then use AppZapper to remove the App.

What is Appzapper? Does it need to be installed or does the mac come with? I needed to remove a botched install the other day and sent it to trash then removed it from the trash. Hope I did the right thing

AppZapper - It's an uninstaller for Mac. It needs to be bought, and does not come with OS X.

It wipes out all of the files and sub folders that arent very visible. In a few words it COMPLETELY removes a program from your Mac. Its very simple to use as well.

That was fine. This isn't Windows. For the most part dragging an App to the trash and deleting is the right way to do it. App zapper is nice, but no where near a requirement, more of a "nice to have".

Try dragging it to the trash and then in finder under the apple menu choose Secure Empty Trash

May I also enquire what is the difference between a secure empty of the trash and one whereby I simply empty the bin? Thanks guys!

secure empty means it overwrites the diskspace where the files lived, essentially removing any trace of the file on your harddrive, making it virtually impossible to recover. simply emptying the trash only removes any link to it, it is still on your harddrive and it can (possibly) be recovered if you needed it back for some reason.

Rather than buying AppZapper, get AppCleaner instead - its just as good, but free.
