I'm a complete Mac novice, and I apologiise in advance if this has been covered before. I am running my iMac on OS X 10.5.6 and on a number of occasions, the system seems to freeze. The spinning wheel appears and and will not go away. My question is, is there any way of escaping in a situation like this? I have tried any number of key combinations to no avail. Eventually, the only way out has been to pull out the power cord and I am sure this can not be doing any good. On none of the occasions have I been doing the same thing that I could attribute as a cause. The last time it happened I was typing an email on my Gmail account. Another newbie question: What is the difference between the coloured spinning wheel and the tiny black and white wheel? Can anyone assist?
