Any suggestion for a camcorder that works with iMovie 06 on a G4?

I just got an Enverio GZ-MS100RU and a Sony DCR-SR46 and neither one of them works with my Mac Powerbook G4 without additional software. What can I do?

I cannot afford a G5 to run imovie '08 so please tell me what camcorder will work on my g4 with imovie 06. Or even better, what company is nice enough to have mac compatible software with their camcorder?

Thank you very much. I have a baby due soon and would love to record him after the birth.

Hate to say it, but you really need iMovie '08 (version 7.1.4+) if you are using a digital camcorder.

I just got a DCR-SR45, and it works seamlessly with my iMovie. I couldn't be more pleased.

another option may be to connect your camcorder, browse it in finder, copy the video files to your hard drive, then convert them somehow using isquint or transmission

iMovie 06 can't read video from USB cameras. If OS X sees the content, you may be able to convert the files to something friendly to iMovie.

MPEG Streamclip may work with the Sony. You need to know the codec the Enverio is using to know what software may work for you.
