I just love my new IMac, but have a question about screen shots.

Is Command + Shift + 4 the way to take a screen shot?

Also....how do I get a screen shot into an e-mail without making it an attachment.

THANKS.

Command shift 4 gives you a curser to draw around any part of the screen and save the picture as png (Leopard) format on your screen.
To get a screen shot use Command shift 3.
You also have Grab app in your Applications > Utilities folder if you want more options.
You can open the screen shot in preview and resize, crop, save in another format etc.

Easiest way to get the pic into Mail is to drag and drop the pic over the Mail Icon in the Dock.
Check your settings under Mail > edit > always send windows friendly attachments is a sensible choice.
You can set the picture size via the options on the bottom of the reply window

Best.

Thanks for the info....I am using Thunderbird....will the dragging still work?

And will the screen shot be as an attachment or in the body of the e-mail?

How would I save it in jpg? or is Leopard the same as jpg?

THANKS again.

I just tried a screen shot....it saves to the desktop...is that correct?

Then I shrunk an e-mail window and dragged it into the body of the e-mail.

THANKS to both of you for the wonderful information.

Have a great day.
