Problem with the mouse/trackpad on my new macbook

I got a nice new macbook for christmas, and recently I've noticed the trackpad doesn't track correctly, or rather the position of the pointer on the screen does not represent where the mouse actually is, as it will select links below where it is on the screen. Has this happened to anyone else? Any help?
