Will a @msn.com, @hotmail.com, or @gmail.com, e-mail adress work in iChat? Can you log in and chat? What can you use with iChat???

I don't know if you can log on using ICQ but since AIM and ICQ can chat with each other you talk to ICQ users

Ok Thanks. If you have a AIM account (@yahoo.com right?) You can talk to people on hotmail or msn right? Like still beable to IM ?? Thanks again.

You can not talk to people who use Yahoo or MSN in iChat
AIM accounts do not have email addresses

Ohh... SO you have screen names? And you can ONLY talk to other people using AIM screen names?

Right. Thanks. I think iChat would be a a little mreo popular if it supported MSN.

Oh... Never knew that MS didn't allow apple to make MSN work in iChat.

I didn't quite mean that. I'm just speculating that Apple probably asked Microsoft if they could implement it, and Microsoft said no. Maybe Apple never asked at all, but I think they would have considering they want to make it easier for their users to communicate with others, and would try a multiservice IM approach like AdiumX. I'm just spinning off cracked theories, don't mind me.

Well, there's always Adium, Fire and Proteus(sp?).
They can connect to AIM, MSN, Yahoo and some others. All at the same time.

I use a combination of iChat and Proteus, I just can't tear myself away from iChat! It looks so pretty...

Thanks guys. Proteus looks pretty cool. I'll try it in a few days when i get my mac. is there any other better IM apps? I jsut looked at adium and it looks cool also.

I used Adium for a while but I prefer Proteus, it seems more reliable and has better features especially when it comes to transferring files.
