Pc1066 Vs Pc5300

I've decided to add extra RAM to my Macbook Pro.
Which would perform better:

2 Gb PC1066 DDR3 1066 Mhz Sodimm OR ($110)

Kingston Technology 2GB SODIMM PC-5300 DDRII (200 Pin) 667MHz ($80)

Also I was wondering if two different types of RAM would work on my notebook (the orginal 1 GB together with 2 GB of some other RAM)

Depends what kind of MBP you have. If you have the newest unibody Aluminum one then get the DDR3 1066.

If you don't have the newest one, don't bother getting the DDR3 because you won't be able to use them.

But the DDR3 is alot more expensive, will the difference be significant?

Yes, DDR3 is a lot more expensive, but as the standard becomes more widely adopted, it will go down. So, if you don't need the RAM right now, I'd recommend waiting as opposed to purchasing potentially incompatible or performance degrading memory.

Yes, bus bandwidth limits the data transfer rates. Also, some machines will flat out reject the wrong memory type. I don't know if this is true of DDR3 vs DDR2 systems, but it was certainly true of DDR2 systems trying to run on DDR.

From the start AFAIK you won't be able to install DDR sticks into your unibody MBP. SO just ditch the idea.

If you really dont need the memory, just wait, prices will dropp sooner or later.
