Just got my new Toshiba 40inch 1080p TV. Im running a minidvi to VGA adapter with a VGA cable to the tv. It has a VGA input on it. How come when I set up the tv as either mirror or extended I can only get 1360x768 on the TV? Shouldn't I be able to get a full 1080p on the tv? Or is the iMac limited in what it can output? I was sure when I had my MacBook at a friends house on his samsung it was running at a higher resolution then 768?

You need to read the owners manual of the Toshiba.

Most TV's have a maximum resolution that their VGA input will accept. It is rarely as high as the native resolution of the screen.
