installed 4GB, shows only 2GB

OK, so I received my 2x2GB RAM chips from OWC and did the install.

But, under "about this Mac" it shows only 2GB.

what am I doing wrong?

Is the RAM that you got Comatible for this Mac?
What version imac do you have?
I dont know whether or not some Old imacs have support for 4GB?

I pulled the cover off and was able to push the chips in a bit more and, VOILA, 4GB

good lesson for me and others...use a bit of umph to get them in.

BTW, it is the current iMac 2.8GHz dual core intel.

When I upgraded the RAM in my MB to 4GB, I had to use quite a bit of force to push them in. I believe the best way to describe proper installation is, "push them in until you start to get scared."

scared...that's hilarious. i think it would have been funny watching me try to get from my front door to my iMac without touching carpet then trying to find some !@*$^ metal to touch to ground myself (BTW, metal hangers don't work)
