help on iPhone playlists.

I have a 3g iPhone.. for the past year and a half, I have used a playlist called "iPhone." Now, I don't want to use that playlist anymore... Lets call the new one "iPhone2." How do I sync the new playlist onto my phone instead of iPhone 1? I have tried deleting everything off the phone, then backing it back up... same.. I changed it under the "Music" tab and synced about 3 times after applying.. nothing... any help?

With iTunes running and the iPhone plugged in go to the Music tab and make sure you new playlist has a check mark next to it and then sync.
